Description

Surgery is a subfield of medicine that deals with the manual and instrumental treatment of injuries, diseases, and other conditions. Except when patients with the latter type of disease need to be operated on, surgery is used to treat acute injuries and illnesses as distinct from chronic, slowly progressing diseases.
